A life well lived

We all worry needlessly about events, situations, or circumstances, that are out of our control. These thoughts spiral and twirl in our head, expanding and growing at such a rapid pace, that we become exhausted, tired and overwhelmed.

I love a poem by Mary Oliver that sums up worrying perfectly, titled aptly ……

I Worried

I worried a lot.

Will the garden grow, will the rivers flow in the right direction, will the earth turn as it was taught? And if not, how shall I correct it?

Was I right, was I wrong, will I be forgiven, can I do better?

Will I ever be able to sing, even the sparrows can do it, and I am,  well hopeless.

Is my eyesight fading or am I just imaging it? Am I going to get rheumatism, lockjaw, or dementia?

Finally, I saw that worrying had come to nothing and I gave up. And took my old body and went out into the morning and sang!!!!

Go forward to sing your song, dance your dance, or just live your live your life with

Mindfulness to savor each moment. May your life be one that is well lived!
